Dirty car and rainy weather.

Updated: Nov 6, 2024

Driving through rain splashes up dirt, engine fluids, worms, and road grime of all kinds and they stick to the finish and when they dry, they petrify and harden. Depending on how hot it is... will increase or decrease the difficulty of removing these contaminates. The difficulty usually increases/ decreases the likeliness of proper removal... If bugs and road grime are not removed, they will continue to eat into and degrade the surface. Which means, a dull unsightly clearcoat. Ideally you would like to have some protective layer BEFORE its exposed to the elements. A common option is a coat of wax. On average these last 1-3 months. Synthetic Sealants are similar to wax but usually last longer. 3-6 months. Ceramic coatings are the best option as it's a much harder denser layer of protection. It offers better scratch resistance and lasts 1-3 years with one coat and 5+ years with 2 or more coats.
